This has been a sewing project I had in mind for a while, ever since Joann Fabrics was going out of business. I had always been charmed by this coral pink flannel with groovy flowers, and the discount on it during liquidation, was the catalyst to go ahead and buy a little over 5 yards I’d need to complete this pajama set, McCall’s 7875. I like the color palette of this, as it lends well to my color season of “deep autumn” with the coral, marigold, and orange.

I had only enough fabric to make view A of the “robe”, and the matching pants view D. I had bought the entire roll of fabric, and obviously now Joann’s is gone so I had to make it work. There was actually not quite enough fabric! But no problem, I had a very pretty white quilted velour which I had bought as a remnant in Florida several years ago. I had always intended to use it as a robe collar, so this was the perfect opportunity to showcase it, and at the same time rescue my project. I had only enough of it to cut 2 pieces of the collar, and 2 cuff pieces (not 4 of each as stated on the pattern piece). To get the rest of the required pieces, I had to really shift through the scraps and find scraps to cut out the other 2 collar and 2 cuff pieces to make it work. I barely squeaked by but I did!

After completing this sewing project, I realize how alluring the full skirt robe would be! I might have to make that sometime!
