I’m writing this post, way in the future of when the event happened, again because I lost many of my posts when the blog was hacked. But let me catch you up to speed as best I can.
I had sewn this teal blue sparkly dress (McCall’s 8037) for a Cunard Transatlantic crossing gala night, and the photograph below of me wearing it was featured in “Sea Views”, an online photo exhibit by Cunard. I believe it was during the covid times, so it was online only. The exhibit was curated by famous British photographer, Mary McCartney.

Well imagine my excitement when, a few years later Cunard asked me permission to use the photo again. This time in an actual live photography exhibit in Liverpool, England! Again, it was curated by Mary McCartney, and the theme was “185 years of Glamour at Sea”. Wow! What an honor to be in this gallery among photos of people like Elizabeth Taylor, the Beatles, and the Royal Family!
I do apologize, as in the past I had written a very detailed post. I will just say there was a terrorizing event that happened at a parade, right in front of the gallery the day I arrived. Plans changed, but in the end everything worked out and we had a good time despite the event nearly being canceled. I am so thankful it still happened after all! It was the biggest sewing related honor of my life to have this photograph in this exhibit! I still can’t believe it!
The exhibit was presented in the the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool, England
For the very special occasion of being invited to the gallery grand opening, I made a special dress, Butterick 7943, a vintage favorite! I made it in a chartreuse green fabric. I paired it with fabulous floral sequin shoes by Betsey Johnson and a vintage Anne Klein ocean wave brooch.
I will always remember this extremely special moment in my life for as long as I live. It is a pearl on the necklace of life!
