Sewing a Vintage Jane Tise, Butterick 5284 Blouse- This is an Instant Favorite!

I discovered vintage sewing pattern, Butterick 5284 while surfing Ebay, and I knew right away this pattern was worth buying, even despite it’s ripped envelope. There are three views to choose from, all of which are entirely on-trend and classically feminine. It’s giving “Sezane”! If you know, you know!

I decided to start with view C which has a crossed over, deep v bodice and elasticized waist. Lace insets, in addition to more lace trim makes this look so appealing to me. I had never tried lace insets until this pattern, and I find it is a lovely detail I will want to do again. Unfortunately for me, the sewing pattern was missing a piece, but it was a facing so fairly easy to self draft. I decided to insert elastic at the cuff instead of the buttoned cuff and placket. Maybe next time I will try that, but I wasn’t in the mood for that much work this time around.

The fabric I chose was bought at the Stitch festival, and the lace is from Michael’s Craft store (one of the only good things I have found there! I miss Joanns! Michael’s fabric and sewing section is a joke!).
