This vintage dressing gown sewing project was actually completed well over a year ago, but I forgot to report about the making of it until now. It has proven to be the most worn item I have ever made. I get a daily spark of joy putting it on in the morning before I make coffee, and I feel it has achieved the fashion goal I had in mind for it, which is making me feel like a glamorous lady, despite wearing comfortable lounge clothing and no makeup.

As someone who is frequently cold, I really like robes, and this is kind of a robe, but I like to think of it more as a retro “dressing gown”. It is my perfect vintage style throw back! I made it out of a nice soft blue and white flannel from JoAnn’s as well as a remnant quilted blue velour fabric I also found there. I don’t recall the price now, but I remember it was super inexpensive for the blue and white flannel fabric, and velvet quilted deep navy (a remnant deal!) which I used for the collar and cuffs. The sewing pattern was from ebay or etsy and it is Butterick 8369.
The robe closes with 2 large snaps, and I sewed an beautiful vintage clear and blue lucite flower button on top to add a nice detail.
Truly the most used sewing project I have made thus far! I love it!
