I thank God often, for instilling in me the ability to receive such joy and giddiness from small things in life. Much of the time, this is related to sewing projects (but not always). This skirt is an example. I LOVED thinking about the concept of it, I LOVED hunting for the pattern & fabric to make it, and as I was working on other fun sewing projects, I was looking forward to beginning this one!

The biggest delight came from the fact I sourced the best “dream” fabrics possible! At the stitch festival, I had this project in mind as something very specific I wanted to shop fabric for. I couldn’t believe my luck! I found a shabby chic rose motif fabric, in two different colorways at Roy’s Material World during the Stitch Festival. I also found a very complimentary vintage fabric at the festival, at the stand “Simply Vintage Designs” Being that it was a vintage fabric, it was a one-of-a-kind, with only as much material as was there. The three fabrics together are lovely!

What was really cool is that I picked out these fabrics for my tiered skirt, and once I got back home I was looking on Pinterest at tiered skirts. I came across this skirt by Gucci, and it is so similar to the fabrics I selected! Uncanny that I found this after and not before. Maybe I saw this in the past and had it subconsciously in my mind? Regardless, what a nice “Look for Less” it turned out to be!

The sewing pattern was quite easy, and it was made in one afternoon. The narrow hems on each tier were a bit tedious, but not difficult.

If you would like to know the fabric breakdown, I took some notes from my personal experience!
On 60″ wide fabric (30″ folded in half):
Top tier (including waistband) 45″ of fabric (1.25 yards)
Middle tier 41″ of fabric (1.14 Yards)
Tier 3 on bottom, 70″ of fabric (1.94 yards)
I have received compliments on this skirt constantly! It’s a showstopper, and quite comfortable to wear. I think I will be making a two tiered version at some point.
