I have completed my first sewing project of the new year, the iconic V2000, Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress. Vogue re-released this sewing pattern in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the wrap dress’s 1970’s launch, and it is as popular today as ever! The dress has been a favorite with women for decades due to the universally flattering fit on a feminine silhouette. In true wrap dress style, there is a small opening left on one side so that the sash can be thread through and tied around the waist.

I decided to make this dress for a very special occasion, my birthday! I chose a fabric which gave me S/S 2000 Prada vibes, with a fun novelty lipstick motif. I feel the print I chose is also very much in line with typical DVF novelty prints. In fact she has some dresses currently for sale in a darling red, pink, and peach lips motif.

This fabric was purchased from Spoonflower, in organic stretch cotton. The designer is Mashasalut.

The pattern was a pleasure to use, and I will be making it again! To tell you the truth, I am already making my 2nd dress with this pattern.
