Joseph and I have always been a bit unconventional. It is not just our age gap, although that is unconventional in itself I suppose, but one of the reasons we click so well, and always have, is because we are a bit eccentric and dance to the beat of a different drummer. So it is not so surprising that when it came to getting married, we got married in a way that was very suitable to us. We decided to get married on the beach in Naples, Florida, just the two of us with a wedding officiant/ photographer ( I highly recommend Affordable Beach Weddings) . It was in no way any rejection of our families whom we love dearly, but it was a delightfully simple, and very peaceful choice.
Joseph and I met over ten years ago. I would see him at the Panera Bread cafe across the street from my apartment, and he was also a customer at the Starbucks I worked at. We immediately hit it off as friends, always laughing, and never running out of things to say. We always looked forward to seeing each other. We clicked! One day he got a new road bike. I thought he asked me to go on a bike ride. A little time passed and I said “so when are we going to go on that bike ride?“, to which he replied that very day we could go. Well as it turns out he had actually never asked me, but in me thinking he asked me, it was the event to get us to finally spend time together outside of spontaneous encounters. We have been an item ever since!
We dated for eight years, and on 02-20-2020 we tied the knot. The location we chose was Naples, specifically Delnor-Wiggins Pass, an absolutely beautiful beach, especially if you venture out to parking lot #5. There is a covered pavilion in case it rained, pretty tropical walkway, and a beach that is a bit more secluded. On the beach there is a beautiful area of twisted driftwood that makes for a unique photography backdrop.
