Sewing a Purple Lipstick Print DVF Wrap Dress – Vogue V2000

* Note, the original post of this was lost when my website was hacked so it’s a little out of order because I rewrote it 🙂

I sewed one of the most beloved sewing patterns for my birthday dress, Vogue 2000! This was a re-issued sewing pattern from the 70’s, featuring fashion desinger, Diane Von Furstenberg’s iconic wrap dress. The pattern was to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the dress.

I chose to use a lipstick print fabric, 100% stretch knit cotton, bought on Spoonflower.com, designed by Mashalut

This print is adorable and reminds me of Prada lipstick print (below). I love that it is purple and fits into my personal color palette as a “Deep Autumn”.

Here is a DVF dress currently for sale on her website, which has a very similar vibe with a “lips” print!

The dress was pretty easy to sew! One change I made was I narrowed the sleeves so they fir more streamline and tighter. That made the look more true to the actual designer dresses. I love this dress, and I think it will be a favorite pattern. It’s universally flattering which is why the dress became a fashion hit in the first place!
